Hovig Kurkjian’s aim was to retire and finally dedicate his time to his greatest passion: ART.
He was determined to open a Gallery in Berlin and create a platform for young artists from Armenia and from the Armenian Diaspora.
He passed away before achieving his dream.
Last year, during the Berlin Art Week, we showed some art works from his private HK-Art Collection, which is based in Berlin. More than 4700 customers visited the exhibition and gave us encouraging feedback.
Thank you very much to everyone who showed interest, supported, and visited our exhibition 'NEVER BEEN THIS LONELY' at Hallen 5 during the Berlin Art Week 2024.
We showed works by Armenian Artists from the Yerevan based NGO NPAK, alongside to rare pieces by the Armenian Master, Hagop Hagopian (1923-2013).
Thank you to Hagop's daughter Sis, who made it possible to show a beautiful part of Armenian Cultural Heritage providing 13 Hagop Hagopian paintings to the Gallery.
Thank you to the artists from Yerevan, Mariam Aleksanyan, Mary Badalian, Silvana Chobanyan, Magarita Ghazaryan, Ine Sergeyan and Aram Zurabyan representing experimental art from Armenia.
And thank you Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher for curating, the second time for HK-Art Berlin, Contemporary Art from Armenia.
We still have works available for purchase, please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
Looking forward seeing or hearing you again.

NEVER BEEN THIS LONELY presents six younger artists from Armenia and offers an opportunity to discover contemporary art from the small country in the Caucasus region that borders Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey.
The artists play with traditional craft techniques such as embroidery, beadwork and textile work. For centuries these techniques have been associated with inferior women’s work and not classified as fine arts. Only recently have they begun to receive the recognition and admiration they deserve, thanks to venturous artists like those gathered in our exhibition.
Hovig would say: More power to them!
These young artists are very proud and honored to exhibit their work next to one of the most important painters of Armenia: Hagop Hagopian.
Hagop Hagopian was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1923 as son of refugees who had fled Armenia during the Armenian genocide. He lived and studied in Cairo and Paris before returning with his family to his parents' homeland in 1962. He died in Armenia in 2013.
To pay homage to one of the country’s important artists, the National Gallery of Armenia exhibited 100 works to mark the 100th birthday of Hagop Hagopian in 2023.
We are very proud to have worked with his daughter Sis, who lives in Canada, to realize this exhibition of her father’s work during the Berlin Art Week.
